FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CANTON, OH – July 10, 2018 – Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio will be launching Job Connection, a digital resource and employment center, opening soon inside the Goodwill store located at 16160 Pearl Road in Strongsville.
Locally, Goodwill Industries serves 10 counties throughout greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio region. The non-profit operates 24 retail locations which help fund a network of mission programs including employment services, family strengthening programs, social services and more. Last year, the organization served more than 11,000 individuals. Job Connection will be a community outreach designed to help assist with employment needs and digital skills training.
“Job Connection is a program that we are excited to introduce for the first time in our region,” commented President and CEO Anne Richards. “This is an accessible area staffed by skilled Goodwill employees and open to the public. Anyone who is in need of computer skills or internet training, resume writing services or even help with basic word processing programs can stop in and receive the support they need at no charge.”
The Job Connection program is part of a broader partnership with Grow with Google. Goodwill of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio were one of several Goodwill programs across the nation to partner with Grow with Google and create programing and services that would help increase the digital skills of communities served.
“We are grateful to the Strongsville community for their continued support as donors and shoppers in our store,” added Richards. “Now it is our turn to give back to the community by opening the first Job Connection.”
The Job Connection will have weekly staffed hours and offer a curriculum of digital classes including Computer Basics, Internet Safety & Security, Microsoft Office Basics and programs on understanding the Google suite of products. Goodwill leadership has plans to open three other Job Connection locations in the coming year.
